Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth

St Francis Ward

Establishing a bespoke inpatient ward design at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth.

The St Francis Ward was the first of two ward refurbishments delivered by our healthcare team for the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. Working closely with Sonnemann Toon, we developed a bespoke design exclusive to the hospital, setting a template for future refurbishments. The scheme introduced a refined room layout and a distinctive bedhead design, balancing a high‑end aesthetic with full clinical functionality. The result is a calm, contemporary inpatient environment tailored to patient comfort and clinical efficiency.

Delivering high quality patient rooms and upgraded clinical infrastructure.

The project involved a full strip‑out of all 15 bedrooms and en‑suite bathrooms, with complete replacement of services throughout. New veneer and glass bedheads integrate power, data and medical gas outlets alongside dimmable lighting and specialist examination lights. Extended en‑suite bathrooms were transformed into modern wet rooms with hygienic finishes and non‑slip flooring. Upgraded air‑conditioning, clinical IPS units and infection‑control fittings enhance patient comfort and safety, while a bright new reception completes a welcoming ward environment.
