Our Story

Staying true to who we are, but always evolving.

We're proud of where we’ve come from and where we are today. Once a team of 10 people delivering small, local fit out projects in 1956, Collins Construction is now a £200 million business with 165 employees, operating across prime London spots and the South East.

Yet some things haven’t changed. We were hands-on then, with senior leaders on site, and that building mastery still runs from the top through the business today. Our ambition also remains the same: to be the ones that get the programme right and delivers an honest, enjoyable experience for our clients.

The early years

One of our earliest refurbishment projects was a cinema in 1962. As leisure habits shifted and cinemas were being modernised across the UK, it marked the start of our journey as a refurbishment and fit out contractor.

Committed to supporting the evolution of space.

We have been involved in over 70 years of workspace evolution, delivering fit outs for some of London’s leading commercial landlords and building a deep understanding of what works for occupiers, tenants and assets.

We know there is no one-size-fits-all, that every project programme is unique, and we only present the one that can truly achieve success. As projects have evolved, a desire for quality space has been the only constant. Since we began, we have honed our skills in understanding what a building is capable of and using it to create the best possible environments.

Defined by the strength of our expertise.

We’ve been called a family business, and once we were, with David Bartram at the helm for over 30 years before his son Chris took over in 2005.

That changed when Jason Warren became Managing Director in 2019, but family is not just about succession. The term reflects a culture of community, where people know each other across the business, work well together and create an environment our clients feel part of. Our ambition is not to grow into something faceless, but to hold onto that culture – to be defined not by our size, but by the strength of our expertise.

Mastering our craft, that's what we aspire to do.

Mastering our craft has always been central to how we work. It is embedded in how we develop our people, through structured learning and development programmes that reach every level of the business.

And while we are proud of where we come from, we are focused on what’s ahead. We embrace new technologies and innovative ways of working that bring greater precision and efficiency - giving us more time to understand our client, the brief and the building.
