As part of our large refurbishment for AXA in the heart of Hammersmith, Collins was also brought in to install a new structure designed by sculptor Alex Chinneck. The ‘Urban Artwork’ was constructed from over 4,000 bricks and more than 1,000 stainless steel components. The pre-fabricated steel frame was assembled off-site before being craned in and bolted to the existing structure.
Once in, the brickwork was pointed and finished in-situ. In total, the structure took 14 months to create and only 8 weeks to construct. It weighs a total of 10 tonnes and sits at 20 meters above ground level.
